Comparing European castles to Japanese castles
There are lots of differences between european and japanese castle. This will talk about the pros and cons of each castle and their best features.
European Castles:
Pros: The walls had loopholes (small slits in castles walls), merlons (places to hide behind) and crenels (Shooting spaces).
Battlements at the top of the castle allowed protection. Bolders could be dropped from the battllements.
Bases of walls were sloped outwards to let the boulders roll off of.
Some had moats making it harder to reach the castle.
Cons: Walls could be climbed over since they were straight.
Archers were exposed on the top of the battlements.

Japanese Castles
Pros: Some had moats around them.
The wall were curved and smoothe to make it hader for attackers to climb.
Within the castle walls there were networks of maze moats making attackers confused.
open spaces between the outer walls and moat were meant to tempt attackers to go further and be killed.
Cons: They could have to get out through the front exit and get confused.
open spaces also leave the defenders over exposed.
